- Youth Support Worker – Multi-Disciplinary Team

Vacancy opens for a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity until March 2028.
This role is part of a dynamic multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) that works within frontline social work teams to deliver targeted, relationship‑based support in the community and families’ homes.
You will help create the conditions for sustainable change for children and families, and facilitate access to specialist support where needed.
- Accountabilities
- Identify community needs where a youth work programme can support the development of youth provision.
- Support the commissioning of services and help communities enhance their skills for independent service design and delivery.
- Negotiate with young people and communities to involve them in programme planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Promote the programme to ensure accessibility for all interested parties.
- Involve young people in decision‑making processes, having them take responsibility for themselves and the wider community.
- Respond to individual and group needs, promoting self‑awareness and self‑esteem.
- Deliver or support direct delivery of youth work programmes, including residential experiences for young people.
- Participate in management supervision and staff performance management, identify learning needs, and complete required training and accreditation within two years of employment.
- Follow Child Protection Guidelines, report concerns following correct procedures and maintain health and safety compliance.
- Ensure duties comply with the County Council Equal Opportunities Policy and Practice.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the District Youth Worker.
Experience and Qualifications
- Qualified at level 2 or above in a JNC recognised youth work qualification, or willing to undertake training.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience working with young people and communities, including voluntary roles.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
- Adaptability to a changing environment.
- Commitment to challenging prejudice and ignorance.
- Ability to develop work with young people and communities to achieve planned outcomes.
- Teamwork capability.
The role requires mobility across the wider operational area, including travel around Essex and beyond.
A driving licence and reliable transport or ability to meet mobility requirements through other means is essential.
