We are looking for an exceptional leader to join us as Manager of Democracy, Elections & Strategic Relationships. This is a pivotal role at the centre of decision‑making, governance, and democratic services and an excellent opportunity to help shape the future of democratic services in a dynamic and fast‑paced political environment.

You will provide strategic leadership and direction across key democratic functions, including:

  • Elections and electoral services
  • Committee and governance support
  • Member and executive support

Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and elected members, you’ll ensure the Council’s governance arrangements are legally compliant, effective and fit for purpose, while driving continuous service improvement and innovation.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and experienced leader who thrives in a complex political environment and can influence at the highest levels.

  • Strong knowledge of local government legislation and governance
  • Proven experience leading complex projects and services
  • A track record of working with elected members and senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, decision‑making and communication skills
  • Strategic thinking with a hands‑on, delivery‑focused approach
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) and relevant professional or management qualification are expected
