Overview
In this role you help ensure vulnerable pupils access suitable educational provision and reduce risk of loss of school place. You will work with schools, families and partners to secure interventions and alternative provision where needed. You’ll progress cases, provide guidance on policy and support reintegration to education. This role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration, safeguarding, and delivering positive outcomes for children and young people.

Responsibilities
- Manage individual cases to discharge ECC duties for Education other than at School by commissioning appropriate provision
- Collaborate with schools to offer alternatives for students on reduced timetables or facing bullying
- Conduct face-to-face work with families and pupils to identify best provision and mitigate permanent exclusion risks
- Coordinate with schools, providers and families to ensure suitable support and guidance for progress
- Address bullying cases with families and schools and secure agreed next steps
- Advance medical referrals, anti-bullying initiatives, and reduced timetable decisions with clear actions
- Provide policy guidance to Headteachers, Governors and parents on exclusions and reintegration
- Monitor funded alternative education provision for effectiveness and value for money
- Operate within annual performance targets and objectives under the performance management framework
Key requirements
- Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level) or equivalent by experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant area
- Practical experience in education and supporting young people to overcome antisocial behaviours in a team setting
- Practical experience in decision-making and taking initiative for positive outcomes
- Experience in organising and prioritising own workload with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage with young people in challenging circumstances
- Good knowledge of DfE guidance around exclusions and alternative provision
