Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council in recruiting a Customer Advisor within their events team on a part-time, temporary basis until March 2026, with a view to extend.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate is required on-site only.
Working Hours: 08:00 - 16:00 / 09:00 - 17:00
Working Days: Wednesday & Friday - overtime available
The Opportunity
As a Customer Service Assistant, you will play an active part in the day-to-day smooth running of the Venues Team operations across three venues. Our Venues are available to hire for meetings, conferences, events and weddings. In this role you will be responsible for setting up rooms as per the customer's requirements, identifying customer needs and building customer relationships to ensure the best customer experience.
Role Accountabilities
- To ensure that all rooms are set up in accordance with customer requirements, ensuring that customers' reasonable requests are met, to clear away after the customer has left. This will include working across any of the three sites at any time and working some evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
- Serving pre-made refreshments to customers.
- Actively promote the three BDC venues and maximise sales ensuring the team meet the yearly revenue target.
- To deal with customer enquiries and bookings as and when required.
- To open and close all premises securely.
- To clear away after events, clean and tidy venues as necessary.
- To find any faults in the premises which may arise and elevate these as appropriate.
- To report any defects to the Management Team and to undertake security, maintenance and health & safety duties in accordance with the standards agreed with the Manager.
- To supervise contractors as and when required.
- To provide venue set up/clear down services, ensuring high standards of Health & Safety.
- To work at BDC events held at any of the hireable venues.
- To cover the reception desks at venues, when required.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Experience in setting up and closing down events.
- Licence with access to vehicle.
- Physically fit.
- Proven communication skills.
- Customer service experience/skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise.
- Ability to work on own or part of a team.
- Experience of venue and event support (preferable).
- Awareness of health and safety.
- Experience in using Outlook, Word and Excel.
