A permanent, full-time position with a salary range of £33,711 to £39,659 per annum, located in Essex. This is a fixed-base role with some home-working and a requirement to attend other ACL sites 2-3 days per week, in line with business needs.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner within the Health, Wellbeing and Creative team at Adult Community Learning (ACL) Essex. ACL Essex is Essex County Council's provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents, offering qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances.

The Senior Trainer leads teaching and learning within a defined curriculum area, ensuring high-quality delivery that meets learner needs and complies with the Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and council priorities. The role supports curriculum planning, quality assurance and continuous improvement, providing expert subject knowledge to shape provision and enhance learner outcomes.

The postholder will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment within a defined curriculum area, ensuring compliance with the EIF and service standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and development to ensure programmes are inclusive, accessible and aligned to learner needs.
  • Use key performance indicators (KPIs), Management Information Systems (MIS) and learner voice to monitor attendance, progress and achievement.
  • Support the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) processes by providing accurate data and evidence of impact.
  • Provide line management, mentoring and coaching to trainers to improve practice and promote inclusive approaches.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and health and safety requirements.
  • Promote digital innovation and effective use of e-learning platforms.
  • Engage with employers and stakeholders to support curriculum relevance and learner progression opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to RQF Level 5 or above (or equivalent by experience) in a relevant subject or teaching discipline.
  • Teaching qualification such as Certificate in Education (CertEd), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
  • Proven experience of delivering high-quality teaching and learning in adult education, Further Education (FE) or work-based learning contexts.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong digital skills and ability to embed technology in teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Please note that the job role requires mobility throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
