Essex County Council is advertising the permanent, full-time position of Solicitor on behalf of Epping Forest District Council. This role is designed for a newly qualified generalist solicitor to join a supportive Legal Services team, providing advice and support across governance, contracts, property, planning, litigation, housing, and regulatory work.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a newly qualified Solicitor of England and Wales, or due to qualify shortly.
• Completed a training contract or qualifying work experience demonstrating exposure to a range of legal disciplines.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills with clear communication abilities.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide legal advice and support across a broad range of local government legal matters.
• Manage a varied caseload with appropriate supervision and support.
• Draft and review contracts, agreements, reports, and legal correspondence.
• Assist with litigation, advocacy matters, and preparation of court/tribunal documentation.
• Support corporate projects and service initiatives by identifying and managing legal risk.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Mode: Hybrid working arrangement with required attendance in the office or meetings.
