Prevent Training and Engagement Officer Fixed Term, Full Time £27,514.50 to £32,370.00 Per Annum Location: Chelmsford Working Style: Anywhere worker Closing Date: Sunday 18th May 2025 at 11.59pm Note: This is a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment for 12 months, possibly extending until 31st March 2027 depending on external funding. It is a politically restricted role. Interview Date: Friday 6th June 2025 at County Hall, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1QH. Essex County Council (ECC) is a large local authority serving 1.5 million residents in Essex. ECC has an ambitious strategy called Everyone’s Essex. The Opportunity As a Prevent Training & Engagement Officer within the Equalities and Partnerships Team, you will work on issues related to community safety, radicalisation prevention, and partnership engagement. Your role includes developing and delivering training, engaging with communities, building partnerships, and supporting local Prevent strategies. The Role We seek a Prevent Training & Engagement Officer with strong communication skills to: Design and review training packages on Prevent and radicalisation topics. Deliver training to staff, partners, and community groups. Create and implement engagement plans with local communities. Build relationships with internal and external partners. Collaborate with Prevent Leads to identify priorities and share best practices. Support project bids and coordinate delivery through the Preventing Radicalisation Initiative Fund. Provide expert advice on local Prevent strategies. Working Arrangements This role is mainly remote (\’anywhere worker\’) with a minimum of once a month in Chelmsford. Travel across Essex and beyond may be required for training and meetings. Essential Experience Strong communication skills, ability to convey complex issues clearly and deliver training. Experience working in a political environment, understanding diverse perspectives. Stakeholder engagement and partnership development experience. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Desirable Skills Knowledge of Prevent Duty requirements and extremist ideologies. Level 4/5 qualification or equivalent experience. Experience in writing successful bids for funding.
