A great opportunity has arisen at North Herts Council for a Senior Planning Officer (Major Projects) to join the department on a 6-month temporary basis, with the requirement to be in the office twice a week (Monday and Wednesday). Please note this role can be offered on a full and part time (29 hours) basis. It is an exciting time at North Hertfordshire Council within Development Management. The Council has an adopted Local Plan within which are several significant major sites, including two significant new neighbourhoods of more than 2,000 homes.

You will manage your own caseload, sites of 50+ homes and other significant development proposals and contribute to the delivery of the two significant new neighbourhoods within a team of planning professionals and specialist advisors.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage your own caseload, sites of 50+ homes and other significant development proposals.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the two significant new neighbourhoods.
The Experience You Will Bring:
  • Experience of master planning and its relationship with Development Management processes.
  • Experience of Design Codes (interpretation and application; negotiation of developer-led and application of Council-led).
  • Experience negotiating, incepting and participating successfully in Planning Performance Agreements.
  • Ability and experience presenting to planning control committee in evening committees, with desirable experience engaging members (ward and planning control committee members) in application through member briefings or ward member meetings.
  • Experience preparing committee reports for major projects navigating Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations.
