The Senior Planner position offers hybrid working with a minimum of two days in the office per week. Office attendance will align with the needs of the Council and the Development Management team, including occasional evening Committees or other meetings where necessary.
The role is within the Council’s Development Management and Enforcement team in the Place, Planning & Growth directorate. This new post was created to support an increase in planning applications and to enable the team to take a proactive approach to pre‑application advice and planning performance agreements.
As a Senior Planner, you will manage a varied caseload of planning applications, provide expert planning advice and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality development across the district. You will work closely with applicants, councillors, stakeholders and local communities to ensure that development proposals align with planning policy and support sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate will have a background in development management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a sound understanding of planning legislation and policy. The opportunity is to play a significant role in shaping the future of the Maldon district while developing your career within a supportive Planning service, alongside colleagues in Planning Enforcement, Housing and Planning Policy.
