Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined caseload of children, young people and families/carers to achieve positive change and improved outcomes.
  • Conduct enquiries and assessments, including sections 47 child protection enquiries, and carry out short‑term intervention plans and reviews.
  • Transfer cases to Family Support and Protection Teams or other appropriate services for longer‑term intervention or care.
  • Assist with achieving permanency for Children in Care through care and permanency plans.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, registered with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrated practice in line with current professional standards (PCF, KSS).
  • Strong application of social work knowledge, emotional intelligence and analytical skills; confidence in challenging social and family situations.
  • Competent in information technology and case recording systems.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Other Requirements

  • Must be mobile across Essex; a driving licence is required, or alternative mobility arrangements must be available.
  • Position may require a DBS check and registration with the DBS update service.
