Permanent, Part Time £13.46 per hour

Location: Danbury

Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations. This position is for 7.5 hours per week, including holiday pay. You will be required to work during the 39 weeks of the academic year, for approximately 45 minutes between 08:00‑09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45‑15:45 in the afternoon, depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impaired individuals using the crossing point.
  • Maintain regular contact with the schools that use the crossing.
  • Assess risks at the crossing site, identify problems, and report defects to a supervisor.
  • Assist in preparing reports on accidents, failed stop incidents, and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
  • Maintain all uniform and equipment in good condition and request replacements when needed.
  • Give clear signals to drivers to stop traffic and ensure the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians before allowing traffic to resume.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, or otherwise meet the mobility requirements of the role.
  • Medical, health and safety requirements including a DBS check, with registration on the DBS update service as required.
