Part Time Vocational Trainer – Health and Social Care – South Essex
Permanent, Part Time – Salary £29,468 to £34,668 per annum (full time equivalent) with a pro‑salaried part‑time rate of up to £17,334 per annum for 18.5 hours per week.
Location: Basildon. Working style: Fixed‑base worker. Closing date: Tuesday 14th July 2026.
The successful candidate will deliver training across the South Essex area, supporting learners in adult and children’s care settings.
Adult Community Learning (ACL) is Essex County Council’s provider of lifelong learning.
The Vocational Trainer delivers high‑quality teaching, training and assessment across vocational areas, helping learners achieve recognised standards.
- Accountabilities
- Deliver high‑quality, inclusive and engaging teaching, learning and assessment both in person and online, ensuring learners achieve planned outcomes.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials that reflect sector practice, employer expectations and awarding body criteria, preparing learners for assessment and achieving qualifications.
- Design and adapt delivery to meet individual learning needs and embed English, maths, digital, and employability skills where appropriate.
- Use diagnostic and formative assessment tools to track progress, provide constructive feedback and support learner improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safeguarding and Prevent, actively promoting equality of opportunity and wellbeing, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress and achievement using ACL‑approved systems to support monitoring and reporting.
Experience You Will Bring
- Educated to RQF Level 4 or above in a relevant vocational area (or equivalent professional experience).
- Occupationally competent in delivering qualifications up to and including Level 5.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and up‑to‑date occupational expertise in a relevant field.
- Proven experience in teaching, training or assessing adults or apprentices, preferably in FE or work‑based learning.
- Strong planning, organisational and communication skills, adapting delivery for diverse learner needs.
- Competent in e‑learning platforms, digital tools and online delivery methods.
- Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
- Additional Requirements
The role requires you to be mobile across an operational area and will need a driving licence and vehicle access, or an alternative means to meet mobility requirements.
If your role requires a DBS check you must register with the DBS update service and keep it current annually.
