The team operates within the Tendring area and forms part of a neighbourhood approach, working in partnership with health, housing and voluntary sector agencies. Responsibilities include assessment, reviews, mental capacity assessments, adult safeguarding, and supporting adults of all ages and specialisms. The focus is on early intervention, prevention, recovery and community resilience.
Senior Social Worker managing own complex caseloads while supporting colleagues. Will provide specialist advice, mitigate high risk, and contribute to practice standards based on prevention, early intervention, enablement and safeguarding. Hours: 9:00‑17:30, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; Thursday is an anchor day that requires office presence. Work collaboratively across the Council and external partners to ensure a joined‑up approach. Participate in case conferences, court attendances, meeting reviews, taking lead when a social care perspective is required. Develop high expertise in specific practice areas and lead on those topics. Manage the team’s Supporting Independence Discussions (SID). Support the team with focused practice sessions.
Qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration; post‑qualified for at least 2 years. In‑depth knowledge of complex cases and the Care Act 2014. Proactive, with a proven record of working complex cases and supporting staff. Experience mentoring newly‑qualified and experienced team members. Comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations and guidance. Strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community. Evidence of continuing professional development and practice capability. Understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages. Clear decision‑making skills with risk assessment focus. Practice Educator, AMHP or BIA qualified. A driving licence and car (or alternative mobility arrangements) are essential, as the role involves travelling throughout Essex and beyond.
