Role

Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to Debden Parish Council. Permanent, part-time position, 48 hours per month or approx. 11 hours a week (average 44 per month). SCP scale LC1 13-17 in line with National Joint Pay Scales and dependent on experience and qualifications.

Debden Parish Council seeks an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, with an interest in local community for the post of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare council agendas, record minutes and deal with council correspondence.
  • Attend Parish Council meetings once a month in the evening, and occasionally other events organised by the council throughout the year (meetings take place in Debden Village Hall, on the last Wednesday of the month, at 8pm).
  • Work mainly from home and ideally have space for the storage of council paperwork.
  • Deal with council communications using the Council's preferred IT systems (the council currently uses the Scribe system).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills; proven experience of financial management.
  • Good working knowledge of IT; must either hold or be prepared to work towards the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).
  • Applicants need to be able to prepare council agendas, record minutes and deal with council correspondence.

Additional Information

  • Experience of working in a similar post is preferred but not essential; appropriate support and training will be made available.
