The Global Head of Business Relationship Management is a senior IT leadership role accountable for governing and strengthening the strategic relationship between IT and the global business. The role acts as the primary technology partner for Divisions, Functions, and Regions, ensuring business strategy, priorities, and needs are clearly understood and translated into effective technology delivery and measurable outcomes.
Working closely with IT Service Delivery, the PMO, and technical leadership, the role positions IT as a trusted, proactive partner to the business.
Typical Accountabilities
- Strategic Business Partnership
- Act as the senior IT partner to Divisional and Functional leadership teams, working closely alongside the Director of Service Delivery.
- Manage people within the Service Delivery team and operate as the owner of business relationships for IT, reporting into the Director of Service Delivery.
- Work closely alongside the Global Head of PMO to ensure all projects and future strategic initiatives are considered, aligned, and visible within technology planning and delivery.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior business stakeholders globally.
- Represent IT in senior business forums, contributing to strategic planning and investment discussions.
- Own and continuously improve the overall health of IT-Business relationships.
- Enterprise Demand & Investment Shaping
- Collaborate with technical and delivery teams to ensure technology demands from business areas are effectively delivered, including BAU, projects, transformation initiatives, and M&A activity.
- Shape and influence enterprise-level prioritisation and sequencing of technology initiatives.
- Challenge demand to ensure alignment with business strategy, architecture, and value.
- Partner with Finance and IT Leadership on investment cases, trade-offs, and benefits realisation.
- Value Realisation & Performance
- Work with the Technology Leadership Team to ensure agreed business outcomes and benefits are delivered.
- Define success measures and expected value with business stakeholders.
- Track and report on benefits realisation, intervening where outcomes are at risk.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification, and cost optimisation.
- IT Operating Model & Maturity
- Act as a change agent in evolving IT engagement, demand, and governance models.
- Champion best-practice Business Relationship Management across IT.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to BRM roles and peers.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of IT strategy and operating model.
- Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Support effective decision-making through IT and business governance forums.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve escalations constructively.
- Ensure clear communication of priorities, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs across IT.
Required Skills & Experience
- Senior-level experience in Business Relationship Management, IT Leadership, or Technology Strategy within a global or multinational organisation.
- Proven ability to influence executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience shaping and governing enterprise-scale technology demand and investment.
- Strong commercial, financial, and strategic judgement.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and facilitation skills.
- Comfortable operating in complex, matrixed environments.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within manufacturing, regulated, or multi-site environments.
- Experience supporting M&A or large-scale transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of ITIL, demand management, or portfolio management practices.
