We are looking for an experienced Electronics Repair Technician specialising in laptop, computer and electronic motherboard fault finding and component-level repair.
The successful candidate will diagnose hardware faults, carry out high-quality motherboard repairs and fully test devices before completion.
Key Responsibilities Diagnose no-power, no-display, no-POST, charging and intermittent faults.
Identify short circuits, damaged components and missing voltage rails.
Carry out component-level motherboard repairs.
Test and replace MOSFETs, capacitors, resistors, diodes, coils, ICs and connectors.
Repair charging circuits, power circuits, USB-C ports and display circuits.
Read, programme and replace BIOS, EC and firmware chips.
Use motherboard schematics, boardview files and component datasheets.
Perform micro-soldering, hot-air rework and track or pad repairs.
Use diagnostic equipment including multimeters, bench power supplies, thermal cameras and BIOS programmers.
Diagnose liquid damage and physical motherboard damage.
Complete full testing after repairs to confirm device stability and functionality.
Record faults, repairs completed and parts used.
Maintain a clean, organised and ESD-safe work area.
Requirements Previous experience in laptop or computer motherboard repair.
Strong motherboard fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Experience with component-level electronics repair.
Good soldering and micro-soldering ability.
Ability to use multimeters, bench power supplies and diagnostic equipment.
Experience reading schematics and boardview files.
Knowledge of BIOS programming and firmware repair.
Understanding of electronic circuits, power rails and motherboard power sequencing.
Ability to work independently and complete repairs to a high standard.
Strong attention to detail and good time-management skills.
Experience repairing gaming laptops, graphics faults, USB-C charging circuits and BIOS-related faults would be an advantage.
