Service Driver – Duties and Responsibilities As a van driver, you will be responsible for delivering a professional and reliable service to customers while ensuring equipment is maintained, exchanged and transported safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering, collecting and exchanging equipment at customer locations.
Carrying out routine servicing and maintenance of equipment on-site.
Assisting with general yard duties and maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
Safely operating 3.5-tonne vehicles in accordance with company procedures.
Completing daily vehicle checks before and after each shift.
Ensuring equipment and loads are correctly secured during transportation.
Following all UK road traffic regulations and health and safety procedures.
Maintaining clear communication with customers and the transport team.
Reporting vehicle defects, equipment faults or maintenance concerns promptly.
Assisting with loading and unloading equipment when required.
Providing a professional and friendly service when visiting customer sites.
Essential Skills and Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
A full, valid UK Category B driving licence.
A minimum of 12 months' experience driving Category B vehicles.
No more than 6 penalty points for minor offences, with no major driving endorsements.
Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
A good standard of spoken and written English.
Excellent timekeeping, reliability and organisational skills.
A strong awareness of road safety and safe working practices.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
A professional attitude and a customer-focused approach.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A flexible, hands-on approach to daily duties, including manual handling where required.
