Library Assistant in Southampton, £13.26ph PAYE
Week 1– Mon 9.30-7.00pm (60 min lunch), Fri 9.30-5.00pm (30 min lunch)
Week 2– Mon 9.30-7.00pm (60 min lunch), Thurs 9.30-4.00pm (30 min lunch), Fri 9.30-5.00pm (30 min lunch)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day‑to‑day organisation of the library and its resources and stock.
- Guide volunteer helpers and assist with their training and supervision.
- Assist children using the library, ensuring that health, safety and welfare procedures are adhered to.
- Assist and guide children in their selection of books and resources, encouraging an enjoyment of books and reading.
- Assist with ordering, stock‑taking, maintaining books and resources, and lifting, organising and arranging books on shelves.
- Liaise with the School Library Service to loan appropriate books and materials.
- Assist with the promotion of the library through attractive presentation, effective displays and a welcoming environment.
This is a part time role on a temporary contract basis.
