- To play a key role in the delivery of excellent HR Services that are pro-active in driving and supporting the continual improvement of the organisation to achieve the Mayor's vision and the business imperatives.
- To take a lead role in developing and embedding the HR Business Partner service delivery model to deliver a service which enables managers and services to achieve their strategic priorities and meet legislative requirements.
- To ensure change management requirements are translated into operational actions that support the business strategy, establishing strong relationships with the Wider Leadership Team and managers across the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strategic thinking to challenge and influence new ways of working to move away from management dependency to management independence.
- Lead by example in 'Living the Values', demonstrating the behaviours in everything you do, motivating staff and encouraging managers to follow, challenging managers and staff who fail to demonstrate these Values.
- Play a lead role with the HR Service, the Wider Leadership Team and managers, in providing specialist HR knowledge and advice in key areas such as TUPE, Employee Relations including Trade Union activity, Job Evaluation, Pensions, Equality and Diversity, Reviews and Redundancy consultation.
- Responsible for the management of staff within the HR Business unit.
- Proactively develop effective relationships, working collaboratively with all service areas and members of the Wider Leadership Team. Identify areas for improvement in management practice, challenging the status quo and developing innovative solutions to complex cases.
- Represent the HR Service and the client at regional meetings and events to develop professional networks with external organisations to share best practice, seek out new opportunities for partnership working and innovative solutions.
- Drive business transformation and seek to instil a culture that drives performance and improves customer service across the organisation.
- Monitor application of, and review, existing HR Policies and develop new policies in line with legislative and organisational requirements and roll these policies out including the design and delivery of managers' briefings.
- Improve management practice and productivity across the organisation by leading on the coaching and upskilling of managers to improve People related skills and behaviours.
- Act as a 'subject matter expert' for HR related e-learning content and Toolkits, providing technical input to the HR Business unit.
- Provide support and guidance to the HR Business Partners when advising managers on complex HR cases, including Trade Union consultation and negotiation. Using influencing and communication skills to help resolve potential conflicts.
This is a Full time role on a temporary contract basis.
