Policy Officer needed in Crewe paying £18.35 per hr. Full time hours on a temporary basis.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Support & Strategic Advice
    • Provide high‑quality policy analysis, advice and briefings to senior leaders and decision‑makers.
    • Support the progression of decisions through internal briefing, review and governance processes.
    • Ensure policy recommendations are robust, clear and informed by the latest evidence.
  • Stakeholder Awareness & Communications
    • Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure external partners understand the organisation’s position on key issues.
    • Support the development of clear, accurate messaging that encourages meaningful engagement and feedback.
  • Horizon Scanning & Intelligence Gathering
    • Monitor and analyse emerging policy developments across:
    • National and international organisations
    • Industry bodies and think tanks
    • Public, private and third‑sector research
    • Legal, regulatory, and case‑law developments
    • Media reports and sector commentary
    • Identify trends, risks and opportunities, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Drafting & Responding
    • Prepare high‑quality letters, consultation responses and policy statements to major stakeholders, including national bodies, regulators and partner organisations.
    • Ensure all written materials are clear, accurate and strategically aligned.
  • Forward Planning & Senior Support
    • Work with senior leaders to prepare for upcoming meetings, events and decision points.
    • Ensure they receive timely, accurate briefings and background materials to support informed discussion.
    • Maintain oversight of upcoming deadlines, strategic priorities and policy activities.
  • Briefings & Speaking Notes
    • Produce concise, compelling briefing documents, slides and speaking notes for internal and external use.
    • Present complex issues in a clear, accessible and neutral way.
