The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear understanding of legal disrepair principles, applying them confidently when inspecting residential properties and assessing landlord repairing obligations. They will be able to identify, diagnose, and evidence building defects that fall under statutory duties, including issues affecting the structure, exterior, heating, sanitation, and overall habitability of a home.
Their reports will translate technical findings into accurate, legally relevant conclusions, outlining causation, required remedial works, and the impact on occupants. They will work with professionalism, clarity, and impartiality, ensuring that their assessments support fair outcomes for tenants and landlords while upholding the standards set out in the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, and HHSRS guidance.
