Principal Planning Policy Officer needed in Kingston. Paying £55 per hr. Full time hours on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the preparation, review, and delivery of the Local Plan and supporting planning policy documents.
- Manage complex policy projects, including evidence-gathering, consultation processes, and cross-departmental initiatives.
- Provide specialist planning policy advice to elected members, senior managers, developers, and external partners.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and policy documents for Cabinet, Committee, and public consultation.
- Represent the authority at examinations, hearings, meetings, and stakeholder events.
- Oversee and support the work of Planning Policy Officers and contribute to team mentoring and development.
- Analyse planning data and conduct research to inform evidence bases (housing need, employment land, infrastructure, environment, etc.).
- Work collaboratively with internal teams (Regeneration, Housing, Climate Change, Highways, Public Health, Conservation).
- Ensure all policy work complies with legislation, guidance, and national planning frameworks.
- Lead on strategic projects such as regeneration frameworks, design policies, climate adaptation policy, or local housing needs assessments.
