We’re seeking an experienced Interim Health & Safety Lead to support a large, complex local authority through a period of reset and improvement. This is a high‑impact assignment suited to someone who can deliver quickly, influence widely, and bring structure to a diverse organisation.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the refresh of the council’s Health & Safety approach across all Directorates
- Rapidly assess current maturity, identify gaps, and deliver clear policies, standards, templates and assurance frameworks
- Design or enhance ISO 45001‑aligned H&S management systems that are practical and proportionate
- Build strong engagement with senior leaders and stakeholders, driving consistency and cultural uplift
- Produce a robust roadmap, updated documentation set, and a comprehensive handover for permanent successors
What we’re looking for:
- Senior Health & Safety leadership experience within large, complex organisations, ideally local government
- Proven ISO 45001 system design/implementation expertise
- Ability to deliver at pace in short interim assignments
- Excellent communication, influence and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic, pragmatic, documentation‑focused approach
