Private Sector Housing Officer needed in North London Paying Β£19.01 per hr ref
Full time hours on a temporary basis
Key Responsibilities Conduct inspections of private sector residential properties to assess housing conditions and standards.
Investigate complaints relating to disrepair, poor housing conditions, overcrowding, and other housing-related issues.
Assess properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and identify hazards requiring remedial action.
Prepare and serve statutory notices and undertake enforcement action where necessary to secure compliance.
Work proactively with landlords, tenants, and property agents to resolve housing issues and improve standards.
Support the delivery and enforcement of property licensing schemes, including mandatory, additional, and selective licensing where applicable.
Investigate allegations of illegal eviction, harassment, and breaches of housing legislation.
Provide advice and guidance on housing standards, landlord responsibilities, tenant rights, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with homelessness prevention initiatives by engaging with private sector landlords and supporting access to suitable accommodation.
Maintain accurate case records, inspection reports, notices, and correspondence.
Prepare evidence and documentation for legal proceedings and attend court or tribunal hearings where required.
Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to ensure effective case resolution and service delivery.
Monitor compliance with housing legislation and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
