Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture & Strategy
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organisation's data architecture strategy.
- Design scalable data models, data warehouses, data lakes, and integration solutions.
- Define and maintain data standards, frameworks, and best practices.
- Ensure the organisation's data architecture aligns with strategic business objectives.
- Lead data migration and transformation initiatives.
- Leadership & Management
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Data Engineers, BI Developers, Dashboard Designers, and other data professionals.
- Act as the subject matter expert for data architecture and data management.
- Lead significant data projects from concept through implementation.
- Support the development of technical capabilities within the wider digital and data function.
- Data Governance & Security
- Establish and promote data governance standards and policies.
- Define data classification frameworks and data quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, data privacy requirements, security regulations, and information governance policies.
- Work closely with ICT, Information Management, and security teams to establish effective data access controls.
- Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and business teams to understand information and reporting requirements.
- Translate business needs into effective data structures and analytical solutions.
- Enable advanced analytics, predictive modelling, reporting, and business intelligence capabilities.
- Support the development of enterprise dashboards and data-driven decision-making.
- Cloud & Emerging Technologies
- Design and maintain cloud-based data solutions using platforms such as Azure and AWS.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve data capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to maximise value from internal and external data sources.
- Drive adoption of modern data engineering and architecture practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, technical teams, and external partners.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Support business case development for data initiatives and technology investments.
