Key Responsibilities
- Legal Casework & Advisory: Manage a diverse caseload covering contentious matters, planning and highways (both contentious and non-contentious), and general corporate issues. Provide clear, practical, and commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders. Conduct legal research on complex issues affecting the organisation and associated bodies.
- Advocacy & Litigation: Act as an advocate across various forums, including courts, tribunals, and public inquiries. Prosecute, pursue, or defend claims, including common law matters and debt recovery cases. Represent the organisation in hearings, ensuring robust and effective case presentation.
- Governance & Support: Support the delivery of a comprehensive legal service to senior stakeholders and operational teams. Assist with proceedings and legal processes arising from organisational activity. Provide legal input and support for governance processes, including meetings and decision-making structures.
- Strategic & Operational Contribution: Contribute to service improvement initiatives and organisational “best value” processes. Work collaboratively with colleagues across legal, operational, and administrative functions. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements.
