Location: Taunton – £272.99 per day PAYE
Responsibilities:
- Provide complex, expert accounting and financial management advice, advising Senior Responsible Officers, Members, governance boards and budget holders on financial implications of prepared reports to ensure decisions are made with full understanding of consequences.
- Take lead on annual revenue and/or capital budgets preparation to ensure timely and accurate financial management, ensuring spend is aligned to strategic direction and supporting a holistic approach to business planning.
- Monitor expenditure and income against budget plans and targets, identifying variations, risks and issues, and resolving these in partnership with finance lead and service leadership.
- Prepare statement of accounts and other formal reports on financial position, enabling the client to fulfil statutory reporting requirements.
- Present reports to committees and other formal governance bodies within the council.
- Provide financial impact evaluation and analysis modelling to deliver up-to-date, accurate financial information and reports for best value-for-money judgments.
- Provide financial modelling for partnerships, services, projects and programmes where relevant.
- Provide training, advice and guidance to senior officers on application and implementation of financial standing orders and financial management arrangements to ensure effective controls and adherence to Codes of Practice, statutes and regulations.
- Review legislative changes, evaluating impact on financial policies, guidelines and protocols to ensure compliance with regulations to required standards.
- Resolve complex queries from internal or external stakeholders by providing information on processes and related policies, ensuring integrity of financial systems and controls.
- Plan and oversee workload of accounting team to deliver full range of financial and accountancy services effectively within organisational standards and timelines.
This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
