Principal Highways Engineer needed in North London. Paying £29.79 per hr. Full time hours on a temporary basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of the Highways Structures and Drainage Programme, from feasibility to completion.
- Support the planning, design, and delivery of the wider Highways Capital Programme, ensuring technical excellence and programme efficiency.
- Provide specialist leadership in flood risk management, including drainage design, surface water management, and compliance with national and local flood strategies.
- Undertake and oversee inspections, condition assessments, and structural evaluations of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other highway structures.
- Develop and review detailed technical designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents in line with industry standards (DMRB, CDM Regulations, etc.).
- Manage and monitor project budgets, risks, and performance indicators.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and oversight to engineers, technicians, and external consultants.
- Engage with internal stakeholders, contractors, statutory bodies, and the public to support effective project delivery and communication.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation, design governance, and quality assurance procedures.
- Support continuous improvement in asset management, drainage resilience, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
