Highways Lawyer needed in Grays, Essex. This is a temporary contract initially paying £65.00 ph PAYE. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and support across a broad spectrum of highways and transportation matters, ensuring the effective discharge of statutory functions within a dynamic and evolving organisational landscape.

They will take responsibility for advising on complex issues arising from development and regeneration activity, including the highways, traffic, and infrastructure implications of major schemes. They will confidently draft and negotiate a wide range of highways-related legal documents—such as enforcement notices, stopping-up and diversion orders, Traffic Regulation Orders, and agreements under sections 38, 50 and 278—while offering clear, proportionate, and practical legal guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will also support functions relating to public rights of way, sustainable drainage systems, flood risk management, and statutory consultee duties, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a collaborative approach throughout periods of organisational change.
