Flood Risk Engineer – Essex
£40‐£45 per hour, Umbrella, Full‐Time, Temporary, 37 Hours per Week, 3 Months Contract.
Role Purpose
Deliver services across flood risk analysis. Responsibilities include reviewing flood risk assessments, SuDS designs, responding to planning applications and managing the council's flood storage assets. Challenge consultants and developers to design effective drainage systems that comply with policy and legislation. Act as a knowledgeable expert in SuDS systems and monitor and assess new and existing drainage systems across a range of developments, including large residential sites. Ensure statutory obligations are met and maintain high standards of probity and good conduct. Take collective responsibility to deliver excellent services to residents.
Ideal Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Relevant professional degree/qualification or equivalent work experience in flood risk engineering, drainage or environmental protection.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues commensurate with the role.
- Experience in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.
- Track record of providing an efficient, effective, confidential and professional flood risk assessment service.
- Proven IT skills, using MS Office and GIS mapping systems.
- Knowledge of MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage is an advantage.
- Extremely high attention to detail and diligent record keeping.
