We are supporting a global banking organisation as they look to hire Engineering Leads within a large-scale Digital Business Automation function. These roles sit within globally distributed engineering teams supporting enterprise-level automation, orchestration and managed file transfer platforms used across the organisation.

Historically the teams have been heavily aligned to vendor products and tooling. The organisation is now looking to bring in stronger engineering leadership capability to help uplift engineering standards, automation, DevOps practices and overall engineering maturity across the function. This is not a pure architecture, governance or stakeholder management role. They are looking for engineering leaders who remain close to engineering delivery and can provide technical leadership to platform engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading globally distributed engineering teams of c. 25-30 engineers across RTB and CTB activity
  • Driving engineering capability uplift, automation and DevOps adoption
  • Improving engineering standards, operational practices and ways of working
  • Oversight of platform engineering, upgrades, operational support and vendor technologies
  • Supporting engineering teams around technical delivery, automation and engineering best practice
  • People leadership, performance management and stakeholder engagement
Key Requirements:
  • Strong engineering leadership experience within large enterprise environments
  • Experience leading platform, infrastructure, DevOps, automation or SRE teams
  • Good understanding of scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go or similar)
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams around automation, CI/CD and operational engineering
  • Experience overseeing 3rd line/platform support, upgrades or vendor technologies
  • Ability to combine technical credibility with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Banking, financial services or other highly regulated industry experience beneficial

This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 3 days per week on-site in Sheffield.
