We're supporting a major global financial services organisation who are looking to onboard an experienced Technology Portfolio Lead to join their Global Engineering Practices team within the Chief Technology Office (CTO). This is not a traditional Project or Programme Management role. You'll play a key role in coordinating strategic engineering initiatives that improve engineering capability across a large global technology organisation. Working alongside senior engineering leaders, you'll help shape priorities, coordinate multiple workstreams and communicate the impact of Engineering Practices across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from an Engineering Operations, CTO Office, Engineering Enablement, Technology Portfolio or Product Operations background who enjoys working at the heart of large-scale technology transformation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate multiple Engineering Practices initiatives across a complex technology environment.
  • Maintain visibility of priorities, dependencies and delivery milestones.
  • Track progress against OKRs and strategic objectives.
  • Produce high-quality executive presentations, briefing papers and stakeholder communications.
  • Work closely with senior engineering leadership to coordinate planning and governance activities.
  • Gather metrics, success stories and engineering insights to demonstrate the impact of the Engineering Practices function.
  • Support internal engineering communities, events and capability initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships across Engineering, HR, Communications and Strategy teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working and increase operational effectiveness.
Key Requirements
  • Experience coordinating technology portfolios, engineering programmes or strategic technology initiatives.
  • Background within Engineering Operations, CTO Office, Engineering Enablement, Technology Portfolio, Product Operations or Engineering Transformation.
  • Experience working alongside software engineering or technology teams within large, complex organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a complex matrix organisation.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the production of executive presentations, reports and briefing papers.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience using collaboration and portfolio management tools such as Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Teams.
Desirable Experience
  • Financial Services / banking experience.
  • Experience supporting Engineering Communities of Practice or Engineering Excellence functions.
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery and modern software engineering environments.
  • Experience within a large, complex enterprise organisation.

Contract Details: £600-650 per day (inside IR35) Hybrid working Sheffield. Potential for Birmingham to be considered for exceptional candidates (subject to client approval). Initial contract with strong potential for extension.
