London | Hybrid (minimum 3 days a week in the office) 12-month initial contract, with a genuine opportunity to go permanent £650£750 per day (Inside IR35), depending on experience We're working with the Group Chief Data Officer of a global financial services business who's building a brand-new Group Data Office.

We're looking for a Senior Enterprise Data Lead to work alongside the Group Chief Data Officer as they build the function from scratch.

This is a senior role where you'll be working with business leaders across the organisation and helping shape how enterprise data is managed going forward.

This isn't a governance-only role and it definitely isn't a programme management role.

It's for someone who enjoys building things, is happy rolling their sleeves up when needed, but is equally comfortable sitting down with senior stakeholders and helping move things forward.

You'll be working with stakeholders across Technology, Architecture, Risk, Compliance and the wider business, helping turn strategy into something that's practical and can actually be delivered.

You'll also be working alongside an external consultancy, so you need to be comfortable challenging recommendations, asking the right questions and helping decide what should be prioritised.

The focus is on building capability rather than maintaining what's already there.

Key Requirements

We are looking for someone with experience across: Enterprise Data Management Data Governance Data Quality Metadata & Lineage Data Controls Data Operating Models Data Strategy / Data Transformation You'll have experience creating governance frameworks, policies and standards, but more importantly you'll have experience getting the business to adopt them.

We're looking for someone who can take recommendations from stakeholders or external partners, work out what's actually important, challenge where needed and turn those recommendations into a practical plan that people can deliver.

Background

You'll have a strong financial services background, whether that's banking, insurance or asset management, and you'll be comfortable working with senior stakeholders across the business.

We're probably looking for someone operating around Head of Data Governance, Enterprise Data Lead, Head of Data Management or a similar level, or someone who's played a significant part in building or maturing an enterprise data capability within a large organisation.

You'll be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, challenging constructively where needed and representing the Group Data Office across different parts of the business.

Experience with tools such as Collibra, Purview, Informatica, Ataccama or similar would be beneficial, but the emphasis is on someone who understands how to build an enterprise data capability rather than someone who's simply administered a governance tool.

AI experience would be useful, but it isn't essential.

The initial contract is for 12 months, but the intention is to build a permanent team, so there is a genuine opportunity to move into a long-term role for the right person.

This probably isn't the right role if your experience has mainly been running governance processes or administering governance tooling.

It's much better suited to someone who's helped build an enterprise data capability, enjoys working with senior stakeholders and wants to play a big part in establishing a new Group Data Office.
