We are supporting a global banking organisation within their Digital Business Automation engineering function as they look to hire Engineering Leads responsible for enterprise-scale automation and platform engineering teams. These roles sit within globally distributed engineering teams supporting critical enterprise platforms including Managed File Transfer and Service Orchestration & Automation capabilities. Historically the teams have been heavily aligned to vendor products/tools, however the organisation are now looking to bring in stronger engineering leadership capability to help uplift engineering standards, DevOps maturity, automation practices and overall ways of working across the function. This is NOT a pure governance or architecture role. They are specifically looking for engineering leaders who remain close to engineering delivery, with strong exposure to scripting/automation and the ability to credibly engage technical teams around upgrades, operational engineering and platform delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading globally distributed engineering teams across RTB and CTB activity
- Improving engineering standards, DevOps capability and automation practices
- Oversight of vendor product/platform engineering, upgrades and operational delivery
- Driving engineering maturity and improving ways of working across the teams
- Supporting engineering teams around platform delivery, operational support and technical decision making
- Stakeholder engagement across engineering leadership and wider business functions
- Performance management and leadership responsibilities across engineering teams
Key Requirements
- Strong engineering leadership experience within enterprise environments
- Experience leading infrastructure/platform/automation engineering teams
- Strong understanding of scripting/automation within engineering environments (Python, Go, Bash or similar)
- DevOps and operational engineering experience
- Experience overseeing upgrades, 3rd line/platform engineering or vendor technologies
- Ability to credibly engage engineering teams around automation, operational engineering and technical delivery
- Banking or large regulated enterprise experience highly beneficial
This is a hybrid role aligned to Sheffield requiring 3 days per week onsite.
