We are supporting a major enterprise-wide data transformation programme focused on modernising and simplifying a complex legacy data and administration landscape. This role will play a key part in shaping and delivering a next-generation approach to enterprise data ingestion, transformation and mapping using cloud-native and AI-enabled tooling.
This is a hands-on transformation role suited to someone who combines strong technical depth with the ability to engage confidently with both business and technical stakeholders. The successful consultant will build on an existing AWS-based proof of concept and help evolve it into a scalable operational capability.
The Opportunity
The organisation currently ingests data from a wide range of internal and external source systems, with significant manual effort involved in mapping, transforming and translating data into downstream administration platforms. Much of this process is currently supported through legacy tooling and manual intervention. The strategic objective is to modernise this estate through automation, machine learning and cloud-native technologies, reducing operational overhead and minimising manual data mapping effort.
An early-stage AWS proof of concept has already demonstrated promising results using AWS Glue and machine learning models to automate mapping and transformation activities. The next phase requires an experienced consultant who can enhance and industrialise this approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Build upon and enhance an existing AWS Glue / ML-based data transformation capability
- Design and implement scalable approaches for automated data ingestion, mapping and transformation
- Work across complex enterprise data structures including XML, CSV and other structured/unstructured formats
- Reduce reliance on manual mapping processes and legacy middleware tooling
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, transformation teams and technical delivery teams
- Lead workshops and facilitate discussions around operational/process improvement
- Translate business challenges into pragmatic technical solutions
- Evaluate and apply emerging AI/ML tooling and automation techniques to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Support wider data modernisation initiatives within a large-scale enterprise environment
Required Experience
- Strong experience delivering enterprise data transformation programmes
- Deep knowledge of AWS data tooling, particularly AWS Glue
- Experience with cloud-native data integration and transformation architectures
- Exposure to AI/ML-driven automation approaches within data environments
- Strong understanding of enterprise data mapping and transformation challenges
- Experience working with complex data structures and file formats including XML and CSV
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on capacity rather than purely strategic oversight
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to bridge technical delivery with business outcomes
- Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with senior business sponsors
Desirable Experience
- Insurance or reinsurance industry experience
- Understanding of complex policy, contract or enterprise financial data structures
- Experience reducing operational/manual effort through intelligent automation
- Awareness of modern data and AI tooling trends within enterprise transformation environments
Personal Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
- Pragmatic and delivery-focused
- Technically credible but commercially aware
- Comfortable engaging across both technical and business audiences
- Collaborative and workshop-friendly rather than purely developer-focused
- Able to challenge constructively and communicate the value of transformation initiatives clearly
- Interested in emerging technology and practical AI adoption
Contract Details
- Location: London / Hybrid
- Onsite Expectation: Flexible, with occasional London workshops and collaboration sessions expected
- Contract Length: Initial term until end of year with strong likelihood of extension
- Engagement Type: Outside IR35
