Essendene Lodge School are currently looking to recruit a passionate and inspirational Year 1 Class Teacher to join their wonderful School and Nursery based in Caterham, Surrey. This role is a fixed term contract from June 2026 to December 2026 and is full time.
Essendene Lodge School is an independent Preparatory School and Nursery in the heart of Caterham, Surrey. We cater for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 11. We have a full‑time onsite nursery for 2–4‑year‑old pupils managed by experienced and qualified staff. The school prides itself on its family‑friendly ethos and excellent entrance exam success rate at the end of Year 6. Small class sizes ensure that individual attention is given to pupils in every lesson, and children experience a varied curriculum such as French, Music, Sports, Drama, Computing, and a wide range of engaging activities including Musical Theatre, Drama, Debating, and many more.
We are looking for a teacher who is able to:
- Inspire children with enthusiasm and a love of learning by delivering high‑quality teaching that engages our children
- Prepare and plan for teaching, taking account of the requirements of children of all abilities
- Prepare and develop teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment, and pastoral arrangements
- Provide feedback and guidance to pupils and their parents in an engaging way that encourages continuous learning at home
What you will need:
- To apply, you will need to have QTS and be able to demonstrate your passion for children’s learning.
- Evidence of continuing professional teacher development
- A sound knowledge of the requirements of the KS1 curriculum
- Experience of teaching in Key Stage 1
- A strength and passion for teaching this age group
- Experience of teaching phonics (advantageous)
