About Stanlow Terminals Limited

We will develop the UK's largest and first sustainable energy hub in the next three years. The investment will allow customers to store, blend and distribute bio-fuels suitable for use as energy transition drop-in replacement transport fuels for road, aviation and marine.
The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join Stanlow Terminals as a Road Terminal Shift Operator. As a Road Terminal Operator you will play a key role in the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the Road Terminal, including supervising drivers and contractors on site. They ensure smooth service delivery for the supply and distribution of ground and aviation fuels, acting as the main point of contact for customer communication and issue resolution, particularly outside normal office hours.
Primary Accountabilities
- Oversee day-to-day road tanker loading operations, including vehicle inspections, documentation checks, audit compliance and adherence to PDP, SLP and ADR requirements.
- Deliver and approve road tanker driver inductions and maintain required certifications in SQA and FuelFacs systems.
- Manage operations across 17 loading bays handling over 700 trucks per day and oversee 10 hazardous material storage tanks used for fuel additives and blending.
- Control on-rack blending and fuel additivities to meet varying customer and consignee requirements.
- Complete sampling, testing and documentation for aviation fuels in line with JIG and EI 1530 standards.
- Perform routine checks, inspections, tank dipping, system testing and respond to abnormal operating conditions.
- Operate and monitor site equipment including VRU, compressed air systems and additive tanks.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance, de-commissioning and re-commissioning in accordance with approved plans.
- Act as Permit Requester, Permit Issuer and Permit Holder under the Permit to Work system, ensuring all hazards, PPE, risk controls and simultaneous operations are properly managed.
- Carry out responsibilities as Isolation Authority, Isolation Supervisor and Operations Team under the SIOPE isolation process, including lock/tag application, documentation and audits.
- Perform duties as an Authorised Gas Tester and complete regular reviews of assigned P&IDs.
- Facilitate and supervise third-party contractors, including delivering inductions and overseeing work scope.
- Ensure effective, documented shift handovers and maintain accurate daily stock, KPI and operational reporting.
- Operate SCADA, VTW, FuelFacs and fire detection systems, responding to alarms and deviations safely and promptly.
- Lead the initial response to incidents and emergencies, including acting as Site Incident Controller and delivering first aid before coordinating with emergency responders.
- Maintain high HSSE standards, report incidents, complete investigations and ensure compliance with COMAH, EPR and site safety systems.
- Identify and support improvements to operational procedures, safety standards and system performance.
About You
You’ll bring previous experience working in bulk liquid storage or process plant operations, ideally within a COMAH-regulated environment handling hazardous products such as fuels or chemicals. You will ideally hold relevant qualifications in Bulk Liquid Warehousing or Process Plant Operations, such as NVQs or City & Guilds or the capacity to achieve in a short time frame. You operate with a strong Goal Zero mindset, consistently meeting legislative and safety standards, and work flexibly as part of an operations team to ensure all loading and service requirements are delivered. With a strong customer-service approach, you balance safety and service excellence in everything you do.
