Key responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority for all civil, structural, and infrastructure assets across the refinery, while leading and developing a team of engineers.
- Ensure assets are safe, compliant, and reliable throughout their lifecycle, providing expert guidance across maintenance, integrity, and projects.
- Lead civil & structural engineering governance, standards, and assurance.
- Own inspection and integrity strategies (RBI, maintenance planning, lifecycle management).
- Support maintenance, operations, and projects with expert technical input.
- Drive infrastructure reliability, turnaround delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, business cases, and long‑term capital planning.
- Champion safety, compliance, and Goal Zero across all activities.
This is a highly visible role requiring close collaboration across site teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
About You
You’re an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer with strong expertise in infrastructure integrity and asset management within a high‑hazard or industrial environment. You combine technical depth with leadership capability and the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.
You will bring:
- Degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered status (or working towards it).
- Significant experience in petrochemical, energy, or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of structural integrity, inspection, and maintenance of aged infrastructure.
- Experience with concrete, steel structures, foundations, and marine environments.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex maintenance or project programmes.
- Solid understanding of engineering standards (API, British Standards, etc.).
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and financial acumen.
