About the Role
We're currently recruiting for an ambitious Apprentice Chef to join our team and help deliver exceptional experiences in Glasgow on a full-time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week. As an Apprentice Chef, you will work alongside a passionate and supportive team, gaining hands-on experience while developing your skills through structured training. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship!
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve either the Production Chef L2 or Production Chef L3 qualification and become a qualified Chef.
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
- Creating exceptional food experiences by helping to prepare, cook and present dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Championing food safety and kitchen excellence, ensuring outstanding standards of hygiene, cleanliness and safe working practices are maintained at all times.
- Bringing our menus to life by preparing ingredients and dishes to specification while following Levy's quality standards and procedures.
- Supporting a sustainable kitchen by handling ingredients carefully and helping to minimise food waste.
- Thriving as part of a professional team, working collaboratively with chefs and colleagues during busy service periods.
- Staying calm under pressure and adapting confidently to changing menus, service demands and kitchen set-ups.
- Helping create an organised and efficient workspace by maintaining a clean, well-stocked and welcoming kitchen environment.
- Being a positive role model for others, offering respectful support, encouragement and coaching to new team members as they develop their skills.
Our Ideal Apprentice Will:
- Have experience working in a professional kitchen (minimum 1 year) and be excited to build on their existing skills in a fast-paced, high-volume catering environment.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety and quality standards, with a commitment to delivering excellence in every service.
- Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or be eager to gain one as part of their professional development.
- Take pride in their knife skills and food preparation techniques, showing great attention to detail in both presentation and quality.
- Be organised and confident when managing their own section, ensuring smooth and efficient service during busy events.
- Understand the importance of allergen management and dietary requirements, helping to provide safe and enjoyable dining experiences for all guests.
- Bring genuine enthusiasm for food, with a desire to continually learn, develop and expand their culinary knowledge.
- Thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoying the energy and excitement that comes with catering for a diverse range of events.
- Stay calm, focused and professional under pressure, maintaining high standards even during peak service periods.
