ESS Employment Ltd are recruiting an experienced Fullstack Laravel Developer on behalf of an established client in the Yate area. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to play a key role within a fast‑growing company. The company operates in the manufacturing and supply of products related to access control and identification.
The ideal candidate will be friendly and enthusiastic, bringing a positive attitude to the team. They should feel comfortable asking questions, show initiative in finding solutions, and have a natural curiosity for technology with a drive to keep improving. We are also looking for a strong communicator who can clearly explain complex concepts to non‑technical staff and clients. With a confident, assured approach, you’ll help guide projects towards the right solution. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong coding and communication skills, supported by commercial experience in the areas outlined. Responsibilities
- Building and maintaining web projects using PHP and Laravel
- Backend development and database structure
- Developing and integrating APIs and third‑party systems
- Collaborating with designers and creatives to deliver exceptional digital experiences
- Supporting the technical lead
- Overseeing hosting environments and recommending improvements
- Ensuring performance, scalability, and security across all builds
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new challenges
- Self‑motivated with the ability to research and figure out solutions independently
- Team player who can collaborate effectively with designers, developers, and other colleagues
- Attention to detail and pride in producing clean, well‑structured work
- Good communicator — able to ask clear questions and share ideas
- Passion for technology and building things that make a difference
- 5+ years of commercial experience working with PHP
- Production experience with Laravel
- Strong MySQL relational database skills
- Experience consuming web services via APIs – SOAP, XML and RESTful
- Solid front‑end skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React or Livewire a bonus)
- Experience with Git, version control, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, creative environment
- Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and documentation skills
