- Early Shift – Monday – Thursday: 06.00am -14.00pm
- Early Shift – Friday: 06.00am – 11.00am
- Late Shift – Monday – Thursday: 14.00pm – 22.00pm
- Late Shift – Friday: 11.00am – 17.30pm

Job Summary
This role provides the business with the running of one or more CNC machines in the relevant CNC Cell. The operator takes reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. Ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements and full commitment to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies & management system. The operator is responsible for crafting and maintaining precision parts and components, which are crucial in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. Work directly affects product quality, safety, and overall efficiency in the production process.
Responsibilities
- Operate one or more CNC machines in the Cell.
- Perform daily machine health check list.
- Handle traveler bookings and documents in the Cell.
- Stamp own work.
- Report Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Assist with other duties at the discretion of the Production Team Leader.
- Maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
- Participate in training when required.
- Minimise the level of scrap components.
- Mentor and support any new staff or apprentices working within the Machine Shop.
- Actively work with the Production Team Leader and Production Manager to establish key delivery dates/requirements.
- Communicate workshop issues to the CNC Setter / Charge Hand’s and Production Team Leader.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and quality control professionals to ensure final products meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Provide feedback on design improvements and process optimization.
Qualifications
- GCSE’s or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Engineering qualifications preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Basic CNC programming and machine competence.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding for instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations.
- Interpret detailed technical drawings and blueprints to create or repair intricate components.
- Stay up to date with advancements in machining technology, software, and materials, requiring a commitment to ongoing learning and skill development.
- Problem‑solving skills and adaptability to handle various machining tasks and challenges.
Additional Information
Setters typically work with a variety of resources and tools, including lathes, milling machines, CNC equipment, and an array of hand and power tools. They also work with various materials such as metals, plastics, and composites. In addition to physical resources, machinists may use software and computer programs to program and control CNC machines.
