About the role
As a Junior GIS Consultant in our Professional Services team, you’ll work on a variety of projects across different sectors, helping customers use geospatial technology to solve real‑world challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills, learn from experienced colleagues, and build a long‑term career in GIS within a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll be encouraged to learn continuously, ask questions, and develop both your technical and consulting skills, with access to mentoring, training, and hands‑on project experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Getting to know our customers: Working with customers to understand their organisations, data, and business processes, and how geospatial technology can support their goals
- Delivering solutions: Supporting customer projects through the implementation, configuration, and use of GIS and related technologies to deliver innovative geospatial solutions
- Learning and innovating: Working with the latest technologies and contributing to innovative projects, including areas such as real‑time data, AI and big data analytics, 3D, and digital twins
- Collaborating as a team: Sharing knowledge and working closely with colleagues to support customers and deliver successful projects
- Supporting customer success: Working alongside Sales teams to identify opportunities where GIS can add value to customer organisations
- Developing your expertise: Keeping up to date with GIS technologies and exploring new ways to apply them to solve meaningful, real‑world problems
About you
You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply — we’re keen to hear from people who are curious, motivated, and keen to learn. You will ideally:
- Have a keen interest in GIS and information technology, with a desire to build a career in this field
- Have some hands‑on experience using technology to solve geospatial problems (if you’re a recent graduate without commercial GIS experience, you may wish to consider applying for our Graduate Programme)
- Have experience with ArcGIS or another GIS platform (ArcGIS experience is an advantage, but not essential)
- Understand, or be keen to learn, how geospatial technology is used across web, desktop, and mobile environments
- Be able to communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Enjoy building positive working relationships and translating customer needs into practical technical solutions
- Be curious, proactive, and enthusiastic about problem‑solving
- Have some awareness of databases, development, web, or cloud technologies (helpful, but not required)
- Be eligible to work full‑time in the UK and able to pass a security clearance (essential)
We work flexibly and trust people to work in a way that suits them and their role. You can be home‑based, office‑based (Edinburgh, Aylesbury, or Cambridge), or a combination of both. We work virtual‑first with most customers, although some travel to customer sites and Esri UK offices will be required.
