Trusted Research Assurance Manager

We are seeking a highly proactive Trusted Research Assurance Manager to join our Assurance team, maintaining a vigilant oversight of national policy initiatives and best practice in trusted research and due diligence.

About the role
The Trusted Research Assurance Manager is part of the Assurance Team which covers a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the University of Surrey’s adherence to governance policies and regulatory standards.

The successful post holder will lead the development and updating of external reporting requirements, informing the University’s Trusted Research Agenda to align with regulatory frameworks, and ensuring compliance with key legislation such as the National Security and Investment Act, and Export Control legislation.

Collaborating with stakeholders, this role will lead on the delivery of expert advice, guidance, training, and support to researchers, management, and professional services staff.

The role includes managing risk assessments for International collaborations and partnerships, through fostering strong relationships with academic schools and University professional services, to promote responsible research practices.

About you
To succeed in the role, you will need to be suitably qualified, with substantial practical experience including managing policies, risk, and developing compliance documentation relating to International Collaborations and ideally export control regulation.

Proficient with IT systems, you will possess excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive data discreetly. You will have strong networking and influencing abilities, with experience in consulting with regulatory bodies on governance, compliance, and risk mitigation.

We are happy to consider hybrid working patterns, but you will need to be willing to travel to campus regularly to deliver training and attend meetings (we anticipate this will be on at least a monthly basis). You will also need to occasionally travel for external conferences and events.
