About the Role

A vacancy for a Team Manager has arisen within the Nottingham City Council DoLS team. This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity for an individual who is committed to leading and managing positive change at a time when the Supreme Court Judgement impacts upon systems, processes and practice, and in anticipation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring compliance and best practice at a time of change, working closely with the Head of Service to influence service development.

The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team completes DoLS assessments for citizens that may lack mental capacity to make decisions about their own care and how this is provided in a formal setting. All team colleagues are Best Interest Assessors (BIA), undertaking DOLs assessments, participating in a Duty rota and fulfilling Court of Protection duties. The team maintains collaborative relationships with both internal and external partners and stakeholders.

About You

The successful candidate will have skills and experience in providing complex case supervision, developing guidance and quality assurance frameworks, performance management and partnership work. They will have proved ability to contribute to business strategy planning, financial monitoring and to apply a detailed knowledge of current and developing legislation.

  • Qualified Social Worker and BIA, with current Social Work England registration
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of current policies, procedures, drivers and legislation in relation to the duties of the post
  • Experience of effectively leading, developing and quality assuring the work of others, including managing performance
  • Ability to manage a budget and to shape service provision to meet the needs of a diverse range of citizens and carers
  • You must also be an experienced Best Interests Assessor

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role. A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

At Nottingham City Council we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working.

Closing Date: 12th July 2026

Interviews will be held 28th July 2026
