About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Digital Services Team as a skilled web content designer. The role will predominately involve editing, updating and developing our websites and intranet (please note - this is not a social media role). The role will involve:
- Working with service managers and experts to create, develop and maintain content that is always based on accurate information and aligned to a service’s digital objectives.
- Being able to use evidence and data to scope, design, and review online ‘user journeys’ to ensure they are effective and enable customers to locate and complete what they need to.
- Possessing the ability to advise, guide and challenge service managers, staff, and other stakeholders as necessary on web and intranet content.
- Providing support on the content needed for online projects and/or work packages as required, ensuring the work completed meets the required standards and is delivered within agreed timescales.
- Maintaining an awareness of new developments and best practice in online content, web publishing, online usage, SharePoint, and Drupal content management system, incorporating these into your delivery and promoting best practice.
You will also be working closely with department stakeholders, business intelligence and the Customer Service Centre to understand and facilitate channel shift to online and to influence future service delivery and build strong professional relationships with the Information and Technology function.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- Possess the skills and experience in designing, writing, editing and publishing web and intranet content and online forms, whilst following quality standards, design principles, accessibility requirements and best practice.
- Be able to work with a content management system – ideally Drupal and SharePoint.
- Generate solutions to straightforward and complex problems, and be able to present and provide support, advice, and relevant recommendations on web and intranet content design, to non-specialist staff in a way that is can be understood.
- Possessing knowledge of current legislative requirements, governance and relevant policies and procedures associated with the management of online content.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills when supporting the development of a quality digital service, in line with business need, and working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Investigate online content issues, devise solutions, and pursue principles for ensuring continuous improvement.
- Be able to use Google analytics 4 and search engine optimisation skills when creating or developing effective and appropriate web and intranet content.
- You should be able to plan your work, working on multiple priorities whilst ensuring you are adhering to set deadlines.
- Be able to use a range of research and information to provide clear recommendations and have a relevant degree or equivalent or proven experience delivering effective digital services, combined with strong skills in designing and managing online content (including SEO, analytics, CMS use, user‑centred design, issue resolution, and continuous improvement), supporting digital projects and transformation, and applying solid knowledge of IT products, standards, legislation, governance, and policies relating to online content.
