About the role
The Esplanade Surgery is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly clinical team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. The role will involve supporting the nursing team and providing routine clinical care to patients, including:
- Long-term condition reviews and monitoring
- Phlebotomy
- Injections and vaccinations
- Blood pressure and other routine observations
- ECGs
- Accurate recording of clinical information
The successful applicant will work within their level of competence and refer any concerns appropriately to a registered clinician.
About you
You will need previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a healthcare setting and be competent in phlebotomy, injections, blood pressure monitoring and ECGs. Experience of supporting patients with long-term conditions is essential. Previous experience in general practice and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage. You should be organised, reliable and confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Good communication skills and an understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and infection prevention are also required. Applicants should hold the Care Certificate or an equivalent relevant qualification.

The Esplanade Surgery is a friendly GP practice in Ryde, caring for approximately 8,500 patients. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, nurses, Healthcare Assistants, paramedics and administrative staff. The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, right-to-work checks, occupational health clearance and an appropriate DBS check.
