ESP have an exciting opportunity for an Area Sales Manager for Scotland to join our Sales Team. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for demand creation across the ESP company portfolio. The role is an all‑round area management position where you will hold responsibility for growing the company’s market share by increasing sales with the electrical wholesaler (60%) and contractor (40%) in the area. You will manage a portfolio of existing wholesaler accounts (covering nationals, independents and buying groups) and look for opportunities to appoint new partners where needed on the patch. You will be working on building relationships with the electrical contractor/installer, offering design support and selling on the products features and benefits.

Main Duties

  • Territory sales role selling all of the ESP Ltd product offers into distributors in that area (Push/Pull role) – Demand generation with contractors.
  • Sales out activity by way of pro‑active support to local contractors aligned to our distributors (Joint sales calls/trade counter mornings/product training etc).
  • Provide product demonstrations and presentations on ESP products promoting features and benefits and the service the company offers.
  • Proactively build client relationships and maintain a strong pipeline.
  • Present and gain agreement from the customer that ensures the customer sees our approach as added value ensuring it supports both customer and our commercial requirements.
  • Focused on being able to identify opportunities with both existing and new accounts and be able to strategically develop those opportunities within the set parameters of ESP Commercial trading philosophy.
  • Work proactively with your portfolio, with a planned schedule of visits, using reports and information to keep the customer up to date, ensuring that you get the most from your visits and calls.
  • Ensure knowledge of products continues to be up to date. Maintaining knowledge on market trends and competitors’ products.
  • Carry out all administration activities within the role, including ensuring that the Outlook Calendar/CRM is updated daily.
  • This role will require regular/daily travelling (occasional overnight stays).

Skills and Experience

  • A full and preferably clean driving licence is a must (any points need to be advised at initial interview stage).
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use Word/Excel/Outlook and other Microsoft Packages also being a key requirement.
  • A proven and successful record in specification sales and demand creation.
  • Ability to build rapport.
  • A very strong work ethic and the desire to succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve efficiently.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work away from home on a regular basis will be required.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to pitch a sales‑based solution.
  • Previous experience in a specification‑based role is preferred but not essential.
