We are now looking for a talented Field Services Engineer to join our growing team, covering Oxford and the South of the UK. This is a home-based role with regional travel, plus occasional travel to other UK locations. You’ll play a key role representing ESP onsite, delivering high-quality 1st and 2nd line support across multiple customer environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Field Services Engineer, you’ll be the face of ESP — solving problems, building trust, and keeping businesses running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing desktop support, troubleshooting hardware and standard operating system issues
- Delivering holiday cover and on-site support at busy airport locations (with variable shift patterns)
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
- Performing “Break/Fix” support and managing add, move, and change requests
- Delivering desk-side support including basic OS and off-the-shelf software administration
- Managing service tickets efficiently, ensuring SLAs and quality standards are met
- Updating internal and customer call management systems accurately and promptly
- Escalating complex issues to the appropriate support teams when required
Requirements
Key skills and experience:
- Proven ability to install, upgrade, build, repair, configure, troubleshoot, diagnose, and carry out preventative maintenance on IT equipment
- Up to 2 years’ hands-on experience supporting PC and laptop hardware
- Strong desktop support skills, including knowledge of current Windows operating systems
- Basic understanding of enterprise LAN and WAN environments, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and RDP
- Ability to follow detailed scripts and technical guidance to complete more complex service tasks
- Comfortable working at different customer locations at short notice
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work occasional 12-hour day or night shifts as required (supporting 24/7 airport operations)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A professional, customer-first mindset
- A minimum of 5 years’ UK work or educational history (required for airside security clearance checks)
Working Hours
This role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm. Due to the nature of our airport support contracts, flexibility is essential. You may occasionally transition to 12-hour day or night shifts to support 24/7 operations.
What We Offer
Basic salary of £28,000 – £30,000, company vehicle, mileage, on-call allowance (£20 per day, 1 week in every 2), pension, life assurance, ongoing training and career development opportunities.
