We are currently looking for a Lymphoedema assistant practitioner to join our team to assist in treating patients living with Lymphoedema in the East Suffolk region.
You will be expected to be clinic based at Ipswich hospital and also lead group work for patients living with Lymphoedema to support them to live a longer and fuller life. There are exciting opportunities to develop a new self-management workshop for Lymphoedema and you will be heavily involved in developing this with support from senior colleagues.
The Lymphoedema Clinic sees patients with persistent swelling due to cancer and non-cancer related conditions to offer advice, support and treatment to manage their condition.
With training and competencies, you will support the Lymphoedema practitioners with simple measuring for compression garments, fitting of garments and providing advice on Lymphoedema management.
Within this role we also have the exciting involvement in the rehabilitation of breast cancer patients by running the post op breast cancer group where you will have a positive involvement on educating patients on exercises and self-management post breast cancer surgeries to ensure full shoulder range of movement.
- Complete the delivery of specific skilled work to assist the lymphoedema specialists in the treatment of patients with Lymphoedema. You will be supported by Lymphoedema Specialists but will be required to work independently within competencies. This includes autonomously implementing prescribed plans of care under minimal indirect supervision to patients requiring assessment and intervention, assessing the effectiveness of the care provided reporting any issues to the relevant member of the lymphoedema service.
- You will also be involved in leading a face to face exercise group for post op breast cancer patients to enable them to increase their range of movement and overall function to prepare them for upcoming cancer treatment. You will use a person-centred approach in the planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of breast care patients and have some autonomy in developing the group further including the implantation of virtual aspects of care.
