The Assistant Groundsperson role supports Erskine Stewart Melville's high-quality sporting facilities and landscaped campuses located in Edinburgh. We are offering two positions: a permanent full-time role and a temporary role until 25 September 2026. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and present high-level sports turf surfaces and campuses to a high standard.
- Ensure site safety across our school sites.
- Assist with setting up sports equipment, including Saturday morning duties on a rota basis for the permanent position.
- Operate school vehicles on and between sites.
Requirements
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Experience working with pedestrian, petrol engine rotary and cylinder mowers; petrol engine hedge trimmers and strimmers.
- Experience using amenity range diesel tractors with various mounted implements such as trailed gang mowers, rotary mowers, turf aerators, sand spreaders, trailers and drag brushes.
- Qualifications in NC Horticulture, City and Guilds Horticulture Level 2–3, NVQ/SVC Level 2–3 in Greenkeeping/Sports turf maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Availability to work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the permanent role also requiring Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
